April 8th is Cushing’s Awareness Day. For this occasion, we created a video entitled “Walk with WAPO though the experiences of people living with Cushing’s disease.”

Cushing’s syndrome is an endocrine disorder caused by excessive cortisol production, which can have several causes. One of these causes is a pituitary tumor that produces too much adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), which stimulates the adrenal glands to release excess cortisol. When Cushing’s syndrome is caused by a pituitary tumor, it is specifically called Cushing’s disease.

This video brings together the voices of eight patient advocates who share their personal journeys, from their first symptoms and the challenges of diagnosis to treatment and life with Cushing’s disease. Their experiences are complemented by expert insights from Dr. Noa Tal, an endocrinologist from The Pacific Neuroscience Institute, who explains the medical aspects of the disease.

Organized into chapters such as first symptoms, journey to diagnosis, and treatment, this video offers a comprehensive look at the reality of living with Cushing’s disease.

A special thanks to Claus, Caz, Gretchen, Gunnvor, Malini, Nicky, Rachel, Stephane for sharing their stories.

Thank you equally to Dr. Noa Tal for sharing her expertise on the topic of Cushing’s disease.

Finally, we would like to thank H. Lundbeck A/S who kindly sponsored the video.

Help us raise awareness for Cushing’s disease by sharing this video. Together, we can help ensure every Cushing’s disease patient receives the diagnosis and care they deserve: now and in the future.

Now for social media:

I have included one image that I think we should use for all social media channels, as it is bigger than the small Youtube preview and will be seen better.

So please upload the image first and then upload the texts below so that the image is displayed! You also need to add the Youtube and website links (I have highlighted those in yellow) to the videos once they are uploaded.

For Instagram, I have also included a short clip of the video as it can be displayed as a carousel, with the IMAGE first and then the CLIP that can be swiped to second (I will send you a video on how to do this, in case of need).

️ Complex, massive, devastating, misunderstood…these are just a few words patients use to describe Cushing’s disease.

But what is it really? How is it treated? And how does it affect the lives of patients and their families?

For Cushing’s Awareness Day, we are proud to release a new “Walk with WAPO” awareness video featuring the voices of patient advocates who share their often complicated journeys with Cushing’s disease.

We are also joined by Dr. Noa Tal , an endocrinologist from the Pacific Neuroscience Institute, who provides some expert insights on this rare and life-changing condition.

Watch the full video now on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@wapo.pituitary (please replace with the actual link to video) or the WAPO website: (link to be added).

By raising awareness, we can help more patients receive a timely diagnosis and encourage further research to improve the lives of those living with Cushing’s disease.

Please watch, share and let everyone know that April 8th is Cushing’s Awareness Day!

A big thank you to our patient advocates (Claus, Caz, Gretchen, Gunnvor, Malini, Nicky, Rachel, and Stephane) as well as Dr. Tal for taking the time to participate in this video. We would also like to thank H. Lundbeck A/S who kindly sponsored the video.
